The Discovery Leadership Profile is an online, 360-degree leadership survey (360 assessment) providing leaders and managers with feedback on how their specific management practices are perceived by others.

Takes 15-20 minutes to complete.

Available in English, French and Spanish.

Scenario

The Discovery Leadership Profile (DLP) gathers perspectives and opinions regarding leadership performance from an individual leader and up to 17 selected “others.” These “others” can include boss(es), peers and direct reports. Based on research that identifies competencies critical for effective leadership at all levels, performance is measured by 40 items divided into 10 categories. The confidential and aggregated responses of raters is compared to the self-assessment of the leader in a color graph that clearly highlights the leadership strengths and developmental needs of the individual manager. In addition, the DLP includes the Plus assessment, a 12-week goal-setting piece to aid the participant in implementing lasting change based on his/her feedback.

The Discovery Leadership Profile Plus features include:

  • Select up to 5 items (goals) from their feedback report (or 4 items and one custom item) on which to focus their development
  • Set up and engage a learning network to support their efforts to improve on their goals
  • Journal their progress weekly over the course of 12 weeks
  • Ask their learning network to assess their effectiveness in improving on their goals at the end of the process
  • Receive a report on their improvement on each goal and their overall effectiveness

Outcome

  • Enable leaders to learn how others, who are important to their success, see their leadership performance.
  • Compare self-perception to the perceptions of others.
  • Establish a common model for leadership effectiveness.
  • Benchmark individual leadership performance.
  • Identify strengths and developmental needs of managers in 10 categories identified as important for effective leadership.
  • Help create a plan for addressing leadership development needs.
